Négation (Negative)

  • Pour former une phrase négative en français, on utilise deux mots : ne et pas. ne se place avant le verbe et pas après le verbe.
(poor for-may oon frahz nay-ga-teev ahn frahn-say, on ew-tee-lez duh mo: nuh ay pah. nuh suh plahs ah-vahn luh verb ay pah ah-pray luh verb.)
To form a negative sentence in French, one must use two words: ne and pas. Ne is placed before the verb and pas after the verb.

    Exemple :

    • Je ne parle pas anglais.
(eks-ahm-pluh: zhuh nuh parl pah ahn-glay.)

    • ne devient n’ devant les voyelles a, e, i, o, u, et le h muet.
      (nuh deh-vee-ahn n’ duh-vahn lay vwah-yell ah, e, i, o, u, ay luh ah moo-ay.)
      ne becomes n’ before the vowels a, e, i, o, u, and silent h.

  • Ainsi, la construction négative est :
    (an-se, lah kon-struhk-syon nay-ga-teev ay:)
    NE + verb + PAS
    Or
N’ + verb + PAS (when the first letter is a vowel or silent h.)
